Welcome to Mindset Lessons from the Field

This all started from a question that popped into my head and I asked my mom out loud: "Do you think I could survive a kidnapping?" Well, I guess her answer spiraled it all because if she had said yes, I would have gone back to whatever I was doing on the computer. But she didn't. She said no. Instead of going back to what I was doing, I started looking up kidnapping defense schools. That's how my journey started and eventually landed me here on Substack.

Of course, this journey was filled with countless surprises, from signing up for a SERE program (where they kidnap, torture, and hunt you in the woods all night, though I didn’t know that when I first signed up), to training with a Navy SEAL to prepare for SERE. This led to discovering a sense of belonging through becoming a children's author (teaching kids about belonging), a speaker, and hosting a special forces podcast. Now, I'm authoring a new children's book and my memoir "Training with a SEAL," which then led me here after watching Elle Griffin's TEDx talk: "What if we release books episodically?"

It's a path I never could have imagined in my wildest dreams, and yet here we are. Welcome to my Substack, Mindset Lessons from the Field.

Unlock Your Potential with Weekly Insights

Mindset Lessons from the Field is designed to help YOU develop mental toughness, build grit and resilience, and tap into your untapped potential. At the end of each podcast episode, I ask my guests the same question: "How can we develop our mindset on a daily basis and get mentally tougher?" Every week here on Substack, I will publish their answers, which will become chapters in my yearly podcast book: "Mindset Lessons from the Field."

On my Patreon account, I have a mini podcast series called Field Notes, where I take the advice from my guests and put it to the test. Afterward, I recap how it went. For those who prefer reading over listening, I will release the blog version of these recaps here on Substack.
